In my early 20’s I had a dream of opening a toy store designed to guide parents on selecting the best toys and games for their children – typical, neurodiverse, and those with special needs. But life got busy raising my kids, and devoting a decade to developing, running, and selling franchises of Thumbprint Adventures creative extracurricular program, with my sister, Wendy Peters. During this time, I invented several of my own products and became an exhibitor and buyer at New York’s annual Toy Fair. There, I made contacts allowing me to purchase exclusive toys and games before they even arrived in stores. This opportunity, along with my Doctorate in Special Education, has made me an expert when it comes to understanding the toys kids will love and learn from. Fast forward 30 years working as a play-based Speech and Language Pathologist, this dream of a fun and educational toy store has never left my mind. Thanks to the internet, social media, and online shopping, I no longer require an actual storefront to share my extensive knowledge of toys and games to families worldwide.
